Our History

The Wapakoneta Community Worship Center, an assembly of God church, once resided on Auglaize Street, was founded by two women; Alta Culpepper of Mcleansboro, Illinois and Rosmary Shultz of Brunson Michigan. Prior to coming to Wapakoneta they studied and Central Bible College in Springfield Missouri. In 1955 the Lord lead them to Wapakoneta and they began ministering to the people and sharing the gospel. They first met in a local family’s home but as the congregation grew they moved into a store front in the down town area. As the necessity of a larger facility presented itself, the ladies became aware of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church undergoing a new building program. The ladies inquired about purchasing their former building on Auglaize Street and completed negotiations in 1956.

The congregation has undergone several name changes throughout the years; beginning with First Assembly of God, Maranatha Assembly of God to its present Wapakoneta Community Worship Center but their mission has remained the same-reaching the Wapakoneta community for Christ.

Although not joined by natural birth, we are family. As a body of believers we are joined together by a common spiritual bond. The bond is a relationship made possible only through the power and the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. Together we dream of opportunities to extend compassion to hurting, captive people of all denominations and backgrounds. Our mission is to reflect the love of Jesus Christ in such a powerful way that those who need healing will be healed, those who are wounded or brokenhearted will be mended and those that are captive to sin will be set free by the power of the Holy Spirit.

As we reach out and impact this community for Christ we will endeavor to follow the voice of God. We know that he has directed us to build a structure that can accommodate those who want to worship him. Pray with us that this vision spreads to those who can be used of God to make this vision possible. We are expecting great things because truly “Nothing Is Too Hard For God”.
